Starting a career in the construction industry
An old friend recently asked me to name the best job that I ever had in my 30-year career in the scaffolding, shoring and forming industry. Although I have had many exciting and memorable jobs over the years, one job instantly jumped to mind before all others.
Two years after graduating from the University of Waterloo in 1978, I transferred from the Ontario Hydro Civil Works department to start a new and exciting job, working as an Assistant Design Engineer at the Darlington Nuclear Project. At that stage of the project, the construction crews were still blasting bedrock for the foundations of the plant.
Scaffold Metrics Inc. provides engineering consulting services to the scaffolding, shoring and formwork industry throughout Ontario.
